CEP 840 Policies, Practices, and Perspectives in Special Education
(Summer 2010)
Instructor: Cynthia Okolo
Grade: 4.0
This was a course that laid out the fundamentals and legislation behind special education and related services. The course was designed as an introduction for educators seeking a deeper understanding of special education. As a current special education teacher I found most of this course to be a review but also a great refresher to the policy and perspective that guide what I do on a daily basis in serving students with unique learning needs. One project was to create fact pages on different eligibility areas that teachers, parents, and students could have access to. Below are three "fast fact" pages that I created.

TE 848 Methods of Writing Instruction
(Summer 2013)
Instructor: Lisa Hawkins
Grade: 4.0
In this course you are reminded of what it is like to be asked to craft a piece of writing and revisit the recursive process that it is. Through writing a personal narrative and poetry and peer revising as well as revising a few times on your own, you are able to gain a better perspective of what students go through when they are asked to produce these types of writings in school. By stepping into their shoes first hand we were able to put into practice strategies intended to help student writers. We also got to further explore and research a topic. I chose to research and create a presentation geared towards general education teachers which discussed how to teach writing to students with learning disabilities.
